About the pageant
Miss World is the largest international beauty pageant. Annually, representatives from over 130 countries worldwide participate in the event. To take part in Miss World, representatives of a given country must win their national Miss World competition. All national competition winners become the finalists participating in the global final. The British organization “Miss World” is the first charitable world beauty organization and the most renowned brand organizing the largest televised international beauty pageant in the world. According to official statistics, “Miss World” ranks as the second most-watched event globally, following the annual “Oscar” awards. It was founded in the United Kingdom by Briton Eric Morley in 1951. After his death in 2000, his wife, Julia Morley, continued his cause of uniting the world's most beautiful women and took the lead of the charitable organization.
